Unauthenticated account takeover via partial login sessions
Published Jun 23, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
Authentication bypass in Click Studios Passwordstate Core before 9.8 build 9858 allows remote attackers to take over user accounts. A failed login creates a partial session that exposes MFA-enrollment or password-reset endpoints, which accept a known victim username and then establish control of that account. The targeted account must already exist, a listed login page must be reachable, and successful takeover exposes its permitted credentials and administrative functions.
