CVE-2024-39303Network attack vector

Authenticated server-file access via ZIP path traversal

Published Jul 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Path traversal in Weblate 4.14 through 5.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to access server files via a crafted ZIP backup. The backup restore loop in weblate/trans/backups.py strips the VCS prefix and joins each remaining archive name to project.full_path without normalizing or rejecting parent-directory segments. Project-creation permission is required to submit the backup, and successful traversal exposes files reachable by the Weblate service account.
