Authenticated code execution via unbounded route destination
Published Jan 14, 2025 · Updated Jan 15, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Wavlink AC3000 M33A8.V5030.210505 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code via HTTP. The set_add_routing() handler copies the unbounded dest POST field into a 256-byte stack buffer with strcat, allowing roughly 0x528 bytes to overwrite its return address. A valid session cookie and network access to the router interface are required; successful exploitation controls execution, while malformed requests can crash internet.cgi.
