Local privilege escalation via uncontrolled search path
Published Feb 12, 2025 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Uncontrolled search path handling in Intel Advisor before 2024.2 allows local users to escalate privileges through local access. Intel identifies CWE-427 but does not disclose the executable, library, directory, or path-resolution operation that accepts an attacker-controlled search location. Exploitation requires an authenticated local user, user interaction, and additional execution conditions that Intel has not disclosed, with successful exploitation granting elevated privileges.
