Application hang via backtracking parameter regexes
Published Jul 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 26, 2024
Regular expression denial of service in Async 2.6.4 and earlier and 3.2.5 and earlier allows attackers to hang applications. autoInject's parseParams routine converts task functions to source text and applies backtracking parameter-list regexes that consume excessive CPU on crafted text. The supplier disputes practical exploitability because application code, rather than untrusted input, supplies those functions; the bounded consequence is a CPU-driven service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=0 <=2.6.4
