Stored XSS via unneutralized Title field
Published Jul 3, 2024 · Updated Mar 18, 2025
Stored XSS in SimpCMS 0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary web scripts through the Title field. The admin content-creation endpoint accepts a title POST parameter containing HTML or script markup and persists it without output neutralization before the main site renders the value. Administrative authentication and a later page view are required, after which the injected script runs in the viewer's browser and can access or alter data available to that session.
