Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode style attribute
Published Jul 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stored XSS in OpenPGP Form Encryption for WordPress before 1.5.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via a shortcode. The cryptbutton shortcode writes its style attribute into button markup without validation or output escaping, so a quote can introduce an event handler. Contributor access and Jetpack or Contact Form 7 are required; the script runs when a visitor views and interacts with the crafted post.
