CVE-2024-39133Public exploit

Process crash via undersized ZIP64 extra field

Published Jun 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Heap buffer overflow in ZZIPlib 0.13.77 allows attackers to crash a consuming process by supplying a crafted ZIP archive. The __zzip_parse_root_directory() function allocates an extra-field buffer from an untrusted length that can be one byte, then reads a two-byte ZIP64 magic value. Exploitation requires a consuming application to parse the crafted archive and results in an out-of-bounds read and process abort.
