Service interruption via boot-time firewall race
Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Authentication bypass in Phoenix Contact CHARX SEC-3xxx firmware before 1.7.0 allows remote attackers to change device configuration. Incorrect startup ordering exposes an internal configuration service before the firewall starts, leaving a configuration file remotely writable during a short boot window. Exploitation requires network reachability during device startup, and the resulting configuration change can interrupt controller availability.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
