CVE-2024-3912Network attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via arbitrary firmware upload

Published Jun 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Unrestricted firmware upload in affected ASUS DSL routers allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary system commands without authentication. The published record identifies acceptance of an arbitrary firmware image as the faulty operation but does not disclose the upload handler, request path, or omitted validation checks. Exposure requires network reachability to a firmware-management service; successful replacement gives attacker-supplied firmware control of the device.
