Appliance compromise via cmdinput stack overflow
Published Apr 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Tenda AC500 2.0.1.9(1307) allows remote authenticated users to compromise the appliance via cmdinput. The formexeCommand function handling /goform/execCommand fails to constrain cmdinput to the stack buffer's capacity, permitting adjacent stack-memory corruption. Low-privileged management access is required; successful exploitation can crash the controller or alter its execution flow.
