Local code execution via Everyone-writable gateway folders
Published Jul 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
Incorrect default permissions in Smart Device Communication Gateway on MELIPC MI5122-VW firmware 05 through 07 allow local users to execute code. Everyone receives modification rights on the gateway installation folders, allowing low-privileged users to replace files that the gateway executes with its own privileges. Access requires a local or remote-interactive appliance login; successful execution permits data disclosure or alteration and can interrupt service.
