Code execution or crash via unrestricted set paths
Published Jul 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 21, 2024
Prototype pollution in @cahil/utils 2.3.2 allows attackers to alter inherited properties through a crafted path passed to set. The set function recursively dereferences path segments and assigns the final value without rejecting proto, allowing a path to reach and modify an inherited prototype. A consuming application must pass attacker-controlled path data to set; code execution or a process crash also requires a suitable downstream gadget.
