Code execution via unsafe prototype property assignment
Published Mar 28, 2025 · Updated Apr 1, 2025
Prototype pollution in alizeait unflatto 1.0.2 and earlier allows attackers to corrupt object prototypes through crafted keys. The exports.unflatto method in dist/index.js expands dot-delimited source keys and assigns proto or constructor.prototype paths into Object.prototype without filtering them. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled flattened keys; polluted properties can alter application logic, leading to code execution or a service crash.
