Arbitrary code execution via prototype pollution
Published Jul 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Prototype pollution in alykoshin mini-deep-assign 0.0.8 allows remote attackers to execute code or crash applications via crafted object keys. The _assign() method in lib/index.js recursively copies proto or constructor.prototype properties without rejecting them, writing attacker-controlled values to Object.prototype. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled object keys into the library; the resulting consequence depends on application-specific gadgets.
