CVE-2024-38881Network attack vector

Password recovery via unsalted stored hashes

Published Aug 2, 2024 · Updated Jul 5, 2026

Unsalted password hashing in Horizon Cloud Caterease 16.0.1.1663 through 24.0.1.2405 allows remote attackers to recover user passwords. The password store retains one-way hashes without salts, enabling comparison against precomputed rainbow tables. Exploitation requires access to stored hashes, but the disclosure does not identify how remote attackers obtain them; recovered passwords enable account access.
