Stored script execution via unescaped button attributes
Published Jun 4, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in tagDiv Composer 4.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via button attributes. The button shortcode accepts user-supplied attributes without sufficient sanitization and emits them without adequate output escaping, preserving injected script in page content. Contributor-level access and the Newspaper theme's vulnerable code are required; the script runs when a visitor opens the injected page.
