CVE-2024-38861

Credential disclosure via accepted self-signed certificates

Published Sep 27, 2024 · Updated Sep 27, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Checkmk Exchange MikroTik allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept plugin traffic. The plugin's TLS client accepts a self-signed certificate presented during its connection to a MikroTik device and sends credentials through the intercepted channel. An attacker must control the client-server traffic path; versions 0.4a_mk through 2.0a and 2.0.0 through 2.5.5 expose transmitted credentials in clear text.
