CVE-2024-38819Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file read via late path normalization

Published Dec 19, 2024 · Updated Jan 10, 2025

Path traversal in affected Spring Framework releases allows remote attackers to read process-accessible files through crafted HTTP requests. WebMvc.fn and WebFlux.fn static-resource handlers normalize percent-encoded traversal segments too late, allowing path resolution outside a configured FileSystemResource root. Exposure requires RouterFunctions static-resource routing backed by FileSystemResource; the Spring Security HTTP Firewall blocks the requests.
