CVE-2024-38817

Root command execution via Edge CLI injection

Published Oct 9, 2024 · Updated Oct 10, 2024

Command injection in VMware NSX 3.2.0 through 3.2.4 and 4.1.0 through 4.2.0 allows local users to execute OS commands as root. The NSX Edge CLI accepts a crafted payload that reaches operating-system command execution, but VMware has not disclosed the affected command or parser operation. Access to an NSX Edge CLI terminal is required, and successful exploitation grants root-level control of the appliance.
