System hang via sleeping sungem poll callback

Improper locking in the Linux sungem driver from 3.1 allows local users to hang the system through netpoll activity. The gem_poll_controller callback disables interrupts and enters a path that can sleep, although netpoll requires a non-sleeping interrupt-disabled context. Reachability requires the sungem network driver and netpoll use; the documented consequence is an availability-only deadlock.
