Local service interrupt via AF_UNIX shutdown race
Published Jun 19, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026
Race condition in Linux and affected Siemens embedded systems allows local users to interrupt service through concurrent AF_UNIX operations. unix_release_sock writes sk->sk_shutdown atomically, but unix_stream_sendmsg reads the shared byte non-atomically, so simultaneous socket close and send paths observe inconsistent state. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and a difficult race; published impact is limited to service interruption, with no reported data disclosure or modification.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
