CVE-2024-3858Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser crash via stale JIT shape tracing

Published Apr 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 22, 2024

Pointer dereference in Firefox before 125 allows remote attackers to crash the browser through crafted JavaScript object mutation. TraceWeakBaselineStubFrame ignores a false return from TraceWeakCacheIRStub after a recursive getter changes Array.prototype, leaving a dead shape field to be traced as a garbage pointer. A page that executes crafted JavaScript can interrupt the affected browser process; no data disclosure or code execution is established.
