CVE-2024-38552

Service interruption via unchecked transfer-function index

Published Jun 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Improper array-index validation in Linux allows local users to interrupt systems through the AMD display color-transformation path. cm_helper_translate_curve_to_hw_format() permits the index to exceed TRANSFER_FUNC_POINTS before accessing the red, green, and blue transfer-function arrays. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access and an AMD display path; Siemens assesses availability impact without confidentiality or integrity impact.
