CVE-2024-38537Network attack vector

Browser script execution via compromised polyfill domain

Published Jul 2, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Untrusted code inclusion in Ethyca Fides before 2.39.1 allows context-dependent attackers to execute scripts in legacy browsers via fides.js. The fides-js.ts API handler appends a polyfill.io script element to the document when window.fetch is absent, trusting executable code from that external domain. Exposure requires a pre-2017 browser without Fetch support, a page serving fides.js, and malicious content from the compromised domain; modern browsers do not enter the affected branch.
