CVE-2024-38532Network attack vector

Protected-data recovery via unconditional test key

Published Jun 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Hard-coded key use in USB armory mxs-dcp dcp_tool from commit 146588c through before e5a99cb allows attackers to recover encrypted data. DCPDeriveKey passes TEST_KEY to ALG_SET_KEY even when -t is not selected, so dcp_tool uses a known test key instead of the fused per-device OTPMK. Access to ciphertext generated by the affected reference utility is required; the mxs-dcp kernel module itself is unaffected.
