CVE-2024-38483

Local code execution via undisclosed input validation flaw

Published Aug 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 15, 2024

Improper input validation in Dell BIOS allows high-privileged local users to execute code through an affected firmware path. Dell identifies only an externally developed BIOS component and has not disclosed the input field, parser, or validation operation that mishandles untrusted data. Exploitation requires local high privileges, high complexity, and user interaction; successful exploitation executes code and can disclose or alter data or interrupt service.
