Remote code execution via template callback bypass
Published Jun 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 20, 2024
Code injection in XenForo Ltd. XenForo before 2.2.16 allows remote authenticated users to execute server commands through templates. The template sandbox treats getRepository and filterRecursive as read-only callbacks, allowing a crafted template to pass an attacker-controlled function to PHP array_filter. Direct exploitation requires permission to administer styles or widgets; the separately documented CSRF chain requires such an administrator to visit a crafted page.
