Administrator widget modification via unchecked GET requests
Published Jun 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in XenForo before 2.2.16 allows remote attackers to create or modify widgets through an administrator's session. Widget::actionSave accepts state-changing GET requests, while XenForo applies anti-CSRF validation only to POST requests. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator with style or widget permissions; chained template injection can execute server-side code.
