API key disclosure via exposed custom setting
Published Jul 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Credential exposure in Avalara for Salesforce CPQ before 7.0 allows remote attackers to read the AvaTax API license key. The app stores the account number and license key in a custom setting that Salesforce's Aura RecordUiController exposes because of broad installation permissions. A Salesforce site session and the custom-setting record ID are required; the recovered credentials grant administrator access to the linked AvaTax account.
