CVE-2024-38411

Kernel memory corruption via stale buffer-list entry

Published Feb 3, 2025 · Updated Feb 3, 2025

Use-after-free in Qualcomm Snapdragon Computer Vision firmware allows local users to corrupt kernel memory through a buffer-registration IOCTL. msm_cvp_map_buf_wncc links the new buffer before table insertion; when the 2,400-entry table is full, failure cleanup frees the buffer but leaves the list entry stale. Low-privileged local access is required, and later use of the dangling entry permits kernel-memory disclosure or corruption without user interaction.
