CVE-2024-38406

Local code execution via JPEG Encoder IOCTL race

Published Nov 4, 2024 · Updated Nov 16, 2024

Memory corruption in Qualcomm Snapdragon JPEG Encoder driver firmware allows local users to execute code through crafted IOCTL calls. A time-of-check time-of-use race lets an IOCTL-supplied object change between validation and use, corrupting memory in the JPEG Encoder path. Low-privileged local access is required; successful exploitation can read, alter, or interrupt data and execution within the affected component.
