CVE-2024-38404Network attack vector

Transient modem service interruption via buffer over-read

Published Feb 3, 2025 · Updated Feb 3, 2025

Buffer over-read in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a malformed registration accept message. The Multi-Mode Call Processor reads beyond the intended buffer when an over-the-air registration accept message contains incorrect ciphering-key data. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the documented consequence is transient modem service interruption rather than data disclosure or modification.
