Local file disclosure and SSRF via XML entities
Published Jun 28, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
XXE in CycloneDX Core (Java) 2.1.0 through 9.0.3 allows remote attackers to read local files or trigger SSRF via crafted XML BOMs. XmlParser's extractAllNamespaceDeclarations path evaluates namespace XPath against attacker-controlled input without disabling external DTD or schema access. A consuming application must pass an attacker-controlled XML BOM to XmlParser; entity expansion can exfiltrate readable host files or reach adjacent services.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
