CVE-2024-38368Network attack vector

Pod takeover via unauthenticated orphan claim

Published Jul 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper authorization in CocoaPods Trunk allows remote attackers to take ownership of orphaned pods through the public claim flow. The claim handler treated an unclaimed migrated pod, or a pod with every owner removed, as available without verifying prior ownership. No privileges or user interaction were required to claim an eligible pod and gain control over its published content.
