CVE-2024-38367Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Owner account takeover via forwarded-host spoofing

Published Jul 1, 2024 · Updated Aug 19, 2024

Host header injection in CocoaPods Trunk before d4fa66f49cedab449af9a56a21ab40697b9f7b97 allows remote attackers to hijack owner sessions. SessionsController builds the emailed verification URL with request.host_with_port, which trusts an attacker-supplied X-Forwarded-Host value. A victim must follow the substituted link, or an email security service must scan it, exposing the token that validates the attacker-created session and grants control of the owner account.
