CVE-2024-38330

Local privilege escalation via unqualified library call

Published Jul 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Privilege escalation in IBM System Management for IBM-i 7.2, 7.3, and 7.4 allows local users to run code with administrator privilege. Affected programs make an unqualified library program call, allowing a user-controlled program earlier in the IBM-i library search order to be selected and executed. Local access and user interaction are required, and successful exploitation grants administrator-level code execution on the affected IBM-i partition.
