CVE-2024-38329Network attack vector

Authenticated backup manipulation via improper permission validation

Published Jun 19, 2024 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Authorization bypass in IBM Data Protection for VMware 8.1.0.0 through 8.1.22.0 allows remote authenticated users to alter backups. IBM identifies improper permission validation for crafted requests but has not disclosed the affected endpoint or authorization-check implementation. An authenticated account can change settings, start backups or restores, and rotate logs to delete all earlier backups.
