CVE-2024-38312

Private-browsing disclosure via persistent tab artifacts

Published Jun 13, 2024 · Updated Mar 19, 2025

Insecure storage in Mozilla Firefox for iOS before 127 allows attackers to recover private-browsing URLs and page thumbnails. The tab-session store wrote private-tab URL records to disk, while tab screenshots remained until later startup housekeeping removed them. Reading these artifacts requires full access to the phone or a device backup and discloses prior private-browsing activity.
