Persistent Wi-Fi connection via crash-aborted cleanup
Published Jun 26, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in Google Quick Share for Windows before 1.0.1724.0 allows attackers to crash the app via an adjacent sharing session. The bandwidth-upgrade path processes negotiation frames before both sides have accepted the connection and leaves Wi-Fi rollback dependent on normal session completion. The attack requires nearby Bluetooth reachability and active user acceptance; the crash preserves an attacker-controlled hotspot connection for man-in-the-middle positioning.
