CVE-2024-38267Network attack vector

Thread crash via out-of-bounds IPv6 parsing

Published Sep 24, 2024 · Updated Sep 24, 2024

Memory corruption in Zyxel VMG8825-T50K firmware 5.50(ABOM.8)C0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to crash a device thread. The IPv6 address parser fails to confine operations to the bounds of its memory buffer, so crafted IPv6 input can corrupt memory. Exploitation requires administrator privileges and is limited by the published evidence to a thread crash, not device takeover or data access.
