CVE-2024-38258Network attack vector

Authenticated information disclosure via relative path traversal

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Relative path traversal in Microsoft Windows Server Remote Desktop Licensing Service allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive data. Microsoft identifies CWE-23 but has not disclosed the request handler, path field, or file-selection operation that permits traversal outside its intended directory. Exploitation requires low privileges and an installed Remote Desktop Licensing role; the documented impact is disclosure without modification or service interruption.
