CVE-2024-38236Network attack vector

Unauthenticated DHCP service interruption

Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

Denial of service in Microsoft Windows Server DHCP Server allows remote attackers to interrupt DHCP service via network requests. Microsoft identifies uncontrolled resource consumption in the DHCP Server service but has not disclosed the request form, resource, or code path that mishandles it. The DHCP Server role must be active and network-reachable; exploitation requires no authentication or user interaction and affects availability only.
