CVE-2024-38184Public exploit

Local privilege escalation via unsigned license entries

Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Jul 10, 2025

Privilege escalation in Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 11, and Windows Server allows local users to tamper with protected license data. The CLIPSP.SYS license parser continues processing TLV entries after the signature entry, so appended or repeated entries alter license fields without authentication. Low-privileged users, including code in an LPAC container, can submit a crafted blob through NtQuerySystemInformation and modify files beyond the sandbox.
