SYSTEM privilege escalation via integer overflow
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Feb 10, 2026
Integer overflow in Windows Hyper-V on affected Windows 11 and Windows Server 2022 builds allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. Microsoft has not disclosed the affected Hyper-V code path or the arithmetic operation whose integer overflow corrupts security-relevant state. Exploitation requires existing local user access; successful exploitation yields complete control of the Windows host as SYSTEM.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
