Local privilege escalation via unterminated license PFN
Published Jul 9, 2024 · Updated Feb 10, 2026
Out-of-bounds access in Microsoft Windows CLIPSP.SYS allows local users to elevate privileges through a crafted license blob. SPCallServerHandleUpdateLicense accepts a non-null-terminated package-family-name field, and later string scans cross the field boundary before copying data. Low-privileged callers, including processes in an LPAC container, can reach the handler through NtQuerySystemInformation and obtain a privilege-escalation or sandbox-escape primitive.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
