CVE-2024-37998Network attack vector

Administrative account takeover via unverified password reset

Published Jul 22, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Unverified password change in Siemens CPCI85 before 5.40 and SICORE before 1.4.0 allows remote attackers to gain administrative access. With auto login enabled, the administrative password-reset workflow accepts a new password without requiring the current password; Siemens has not disclosed the responsible endpoint or function. Network access to an affected application with auto login enabled is sufficient to take control of an administrative account.
