Authenticated code execution via SearchSuggest object evaluation

Published Jul 31, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Code injection in CryptPad XWiki Platform affected releases allows remote authenticated users with page edit rights to execute arbitrary code. SearchSuggestConfigSheet evaluates attacker-controlled name, icon, limit, and engine fields from SearchSuggest XObjects as Velocity or wiki syntax without restricting evaluation to context-approved properties. Any account able to edit any page can execute with programming rights and compromise data and service availability across the installation.
