CVE-2024-37899Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator-level code execution via profile author reassignment

Published Jun 20, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024

Code injection in affected XWiki Platform releases allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted user profile. XWikiUser.setDisabled saves the profile after replacing its author with the administrator, so embedded Groovy runs with administrative rights when the page reloads. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account to plant the macro and an administrator to disable that account, granting control of the XWiki service and its data.
