CVE-2024-37795Public exploit

Process crash via zero-denominator rational literal

Published Jun 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Input parsing in cvc5 1.1.3 allows attackers to crash the command-line solver with a crafted SMT-LIB numeric literal. Smt2TermParser passes the zero-denominator literal 5/0 through TermManager to the Rational constructor, where GMP canonicalization raises a fatal arithmetic exception instead of a parse error. Exploitation requires the solver to process attacker-controlled SMT-LIB input and interrupts only that solver process.
